Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Research Associate will effectively and safely conduct all aspects of field research and development trials under the direction of the location Field Scientist and/or Field Research Manager. The Field Research Associate will safely conduct jobs for which the local management deems they are qualified and adequately trained to complete. Training will be provided on a task-by-task basis.
J OB FUNCTIONS
Specific duties associated with the conduct of field trials and field testing as detailed in SGS SOPs include the following:
Assist local SGS field management personnel in maintaining an up-to-date flow of paperwork
Monitor thermographs and weather data collection
Assist personnel in establishing and maintaining test plots
Conduct plot maintenance and plant protection inputs as required and directed by field management
Assist in field research tasks such as pollinations, sampling, and field data collection
Apply maintenance and test chemicals if hold a pesticide application license under the direction of field management
Assist in the execution of critical test phases and preparation of the Field Trial Notebooks
Maintain equipment and facilities in accordance with applicable SOPs and in a safe, clean, neat, and organized manner
Complete assigned duties according to applicable SOPs
Maintain thorough knowledge of GLP requirements, regulatory guidelines, and SGS SOPs
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in an agricultural science-based field Required
0-2 years of relevant biological/agricultural field experience Preferred
Current Pesticide Applicator License Preferred
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Pesticide Applicator License
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Must be able to effectively operate farm equipment, such as tractors, cultivators, and sprayers, and experience with small plot field equipment preferred
Knowledge of and/or experience with GLP requirements is preferred
Must be able to work in a safe manner and foster a safe, sustainable, and environmentally sound field situation
Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and able to work independently
Excellent communication skills are required
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of ARM preferred
Ability to handle a variety of projects effectively, efficiently, and with confidentiality
