Job Description:

The Pharmacist performs the day to day responsibilities of drug distribution, drug order entry, processing and verification. Performs therapeutic intervention as needed, drug information and consultation to other professional staff and patients, the maintenance of patient profiles, attendance at cardio-pulmonary emergencies, drug therapy monitoring, and drug compounding. Performs and supervises medication order entry, unit dose cassette filling, preparation of all sterile medications, narcotic dispensing and accounting, and participates in all code blues. The Pharmacist is also responsible for directing technicians and performing inventory control, as assigned by the supervisor/director.Southern California Hospital at Hollywood is a 100-bed acute care facility and 24/7 urgent care with a mission and vision to provide compassionate healthcare accessible to everyone. As an acute care facility, we have physicians and specialists on staff for the following: cardiology, pulmonology, internal medicine, psychiatry, orthopedics, hematology, endocrinology, podiatry, cardiothoracic vascular surgery, urology, plastic surgery, and more.Required Qualifications:


  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy

  • Two (2) years' experience in clinical pharmacy or a residency program

  • Licensed by the CA State Board of Pharmacy

  • Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment

  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

  • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pharm.D. and post-doctoral residency

Pay Rate: Min - $61.60 | Max - $84.70

  • Reads, interprets and verifies physician orders. Assesses medication orders initially and on an ongoing basis for appropriateness. Prepares and distributes drugs to patients and ensures optimal formulary compliance.

  • Accurately compounds and dispenses extemporaneous preparations and controlled substances. Appropriately prepares parenteral products using aseptic technique. Implements appropriate age-related therapy, pharmacokinetics dosing, and performs and documents drug therapy interventions.

  • Collaborates with other team members in providing correct drug and dosage form of delivery for age group and collaborates with nursing to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy considering the age of patient. Participates as an active member of the Code Blue Team.
