Relief Operator
JOB SUMMARY:
The Relief Operator is primarily responsible for providing support to various production departments. He/she supports production goals by covering break/lunches/vacations/overtime and assisting wherever needed at the discretion of shift supervisors. In doing so, he/she must be proficient in several operations such as receiving, micros, mixing, pelleting, packing and palletizer, non-bulk receiving; he/she must also be able to perform those jobs as good or better than the "normal" operator. The qualified candidate will have the ability to work 40+ hours per week. He/she must be able to work across various shifts, short term, and long term - up to several weeks at a time. He/she must be able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.; and be mechanically inclined. The candidate must be able to multi-task; work as a team player; and work in a fast-paced environment with very high responsibilities. A sense of urgency is a must. This position requires a great deal of flexibility especially when it comes to the schedule. The relief operator must constantly deal with change and ambiguity.
SHIFT: 1st Shift - 6am - 2 :30pm
PAY: $23.04 hourly
Essential Functions:
Works safely and follows all safety procedures and safety requirements for each position. Cover break and lunches for packing and/or pelleting depending on needs. Assist packers with bin checks, poking bins, bag staging, changeovers, changing fine totes, and other needs as determined by shift supervisor. Assist pellet mills with die changes and other needs as determined by supervisor. Completes monthly cycle counts for empty bags and bagged ingredients. Cover vacations (PTO) when needed. When covering a position, the relief operator accepts all essential job functions related to that role. Cover overtime (OT) when needed. Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions - required. Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. - required. Visual acuity - required. Able to work in hot/cold/dusty environments - required. Beating/poking bins/digging out dies - required. Forklift certified - required. Not afraid of working heights greater than 5 feet - required. Attention to detail - required. Basic computer and math skills - required. Sense of urgency - required. Overtime/weekends - required per business needs. Completes miscellaneous assignments from management. Completes housekeeping assignments. Assigned work tools - PPE, radio, and flashlight.
Decision-making: The work instructions are very specific should be able to make adjustments and changes as deemed necessary by the supervisor
