Position Summary:
Our School Based Partial Hospital program offers intensive mental health and behavioral services that are designed to be embedded within educational programming. While the student is enrolled in our program, he or she receives individual, group and family therapy, as well as psychiatric support throughout the school day. We believe that family involvement is crucial to the student's success in our program and we work closely with a student's parents or caregivers to ensure that progress is made.
The School Based Therapist works in the Deer Lakes School District to provide the behavioral health services and interventions necessary to maximize the school experience and academic potential of students identified.
Position Requirements:
Education
Master's degree from an accredited university in social work, psychology, child development, psychiatric nursing, or related field.
Experience
One year experience in a child/adolescent behavioral health program preferred.
School based partial hospitalization program experience is preferred.
Safe physical management training experience is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications & Clearances
Valid PA professional license preferred: LCSW, LPC, or LMFT
FBI criminal background clearance
PA criminal and child abuse clearances
Valid PA driver's license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Understanding of child/adolescent development, family systems, and behavioral health diagnoses along with appropriate interventions.
Ability to assess student needs and implement best practice standards through individual, family and group therapy
Conviction that people have the capacity to grow and change with commitment to empowering students under care to do so.
Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
Ability to make evidence-based decisions
Ability to exhibit cultural sensitivity and to contribute to a work environment where diversity is welcomed and supported
