As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a talented Traction Power Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Traction Power Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful operation and maintenance of our rail systems. The Traction Power Engineer will be responsible for performing design work, developing Statements of Work (SOW) and specifications, providing daily operational support to maintenance crews, conducting engineering inspections, and coordinating with various internal and external departments, including rail operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Work: Develop traction power system designs in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • SOW and Specification Development: Prepare detailed Statements of Work and specifications for traction power projects, ensuring clarity and alignment with project objectives.
  • Daily Operational Support: Provide technical assistance and support to maintenance crews to ensure efficient operation of traction power systems.
  • Engineering Inspections: Conduct inspections of traction power equipment and infrastructure to assess condition, identify potential issues, and recommend maintenance or repair actions.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with rail operations and other internal and external departments to ensure seamless integration of traction power systems with overall rail operations.
  • Scope, Schedule, and Budget Development: Assist in the development of project scopes, schedules, and budgets for traction power projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Construction Support: Provide technical support during construction activities, including reviewing contractor submittals, responding to requests for information, and resolving design issues.
  • Failure Analysis: Perform failure analysis on traction power equipment and systems to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future failures.
  • Metro Right of Way (ROW) Coordination: Coordinate with Metro support and track allocation processes to facilitate the completion of work along the Metro Right of Way.
  • Field Issue Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot field issues related to traction power systems, and implement appropriate solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Construction Management: Assist in the management of traction power construction projects, including monitoring progress, addressing issues, and ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as required to support the Operations Engineering Capital Improvement Program and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience in traction power engineering or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of traction power systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems, and third rail systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
