Job Description:

 


Seeking a Quality Supervisor in the Winston-Salem location for the film converting industry to lead a team of QA technicians within a facility that includes printing, coating, extrusion and lamination processes. Will ensure site processes are followed to meet specified company and customer requirements from incoming raw materials to final product.


Essential Functions:



  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to a team of 7 – 10 QA technicians.

  • Identify and improve sources of testing variation

  • Ensure all product shipped meets customer requirements in accordance with customer and internal specifications.

  • Manage all substandard/nonconforming materials to the established Site standard operating procedures.

  • Manage customer and supplier Certificate of Analysis (COA) & Certificate of Compliance (COC) programs.

  • Create, promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, reports, etc. for raw materials, in-process materials & finished good.

  • Review Material specifications to ensure the necessary criteria and provisions are included to meet the quality and continuous improvement requirements.

  • Ability to work in both Quality Lab and Production Floor environments.

  • Knowledge of product quality requirements as it pertains to manufacturing and customer requirements.

  • Familiar with basic physical laboratory equipment as well as GC and FTIR.

  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.

  • Drive continuous improvement activities and stay current with the industry best practices.

  • Lead by example to maintain a strong positive working relationships with direct and indirect company associates.



  • Coordinate special testing needs in the QA Lab.

  • Schedule coverage for the QA Lab - vacation, sick days, overtime, etc.



  • Work directly with machine operators to identify needs and develop solutions; work with Maintenance on equipment modifications and preventative /predictive maintenance to ensure reliability.

  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and recommendations through accurate reports as necessary.

  • Maintain and protect proprietary information as related to Company and its customers.



  • Ensure all equipment requiring calibration is properly serviced and maintained including logging calibration information into the instrument calibration database.



  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Attend training programs to develop and maintain relevant knowledge techniques and skills.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:



  • Minimum 2 year college degree, preferably in a scientific or technical field with an emphasis on lab techniques and instrumentation or equivalent packaging work experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of Quality experience.

  • Must have strong computer skills to work with Quality Assurance applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases, etc.

  • Preferred experience with GMP regulations and ISO 9001 Audits.

  • Preferred experience with web manufacturing processes.

Physical Requirements:



  • Typical of those in an office environment. Frequent exposure to typical hazards found in a manufacturing environment, including walking/standing for long periods of time, bending and proximity to high speed machinery.
