The Power Service Consulting Engineer is the technical advisor to both internal SE entities and external customers. They meet with customers to evaluate their issues and goals and work within SE to ensure that the offer that is presented solves these issues. They are the project lead ensuring that the executed work, whether performed by themselves, or by others within Consulting, is performed within specifications and to the SOW and delivered to the customer within the specified time.

The PSE will advise and support Business Development Managers and Project Developers by lending technical expertise when needed and ensuring the customer is aware and comfortable with the capabilities within Consulting.

The Power Service Consulting Engineer must become proficient in all the PSE offerings. This includes, electrical distribution design, Power Control and Automation, (PCA), equipment assessments, power quality assessments, and others. The Engineer will work within Consulting to ensure that they are progressing in their knowledge of all Schneider Electric (SE) offerings so the solutions they offer meet all customer expectations and the work that is completed by or under the direction of a Staff Engineer meets both National and Consulting Standards.

Typical Responsibilities


  • Proposal and quotation development

  • Technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting

  • Education of/Consultation with internal/external stakeholders

  • Develops and maintains relationships with key customers both internal and external

  • Works to develop and maintain high technical and commercial proficiency for all PSE offers

  • Executes engineering work as needed and directed

  • Works with PM entities to ensure work within area is completed

  • Manages client expectations, facilitates proposal delivery, and leads project execution.

  • Delivers technical reports


ESTIMATED TRAVEL: 10-30% frequent travel

Minimum Qualifications:


  • BSEE or MSEE

  • Experienced power system/controls engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust of clients in a consulting role

  • Proficient in MS Office applications

  • Expert in at least one, if not many, of the following areas of expertise:

  • Electrical power system studies

  • Electrical distribution design

  • Switchgear Automation

  • Electrical power quality assessment

  • ATO programming

  • Relay programming and commissioning


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Demonstrated ability to develop project scope and identify project risks (technical, schedule, cost, change order)

  • Electrical maintenance and testing experience

  • Demonstrated ability to develop win strategy (differentiators, competitive environment, commercial strategy)

  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering documents, codes and standards, technical procedures

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, and customers

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Financial acumen and understanding

  • Cool-Calm-Collected under pressure and in dynamic environments

  • Able to simultaneously address project details without losing the big-picture

  • Anticipates and communicates project risks and implements mitigation strategies

  • Collaborative and influential communication style

  • Ability to work remotely

  • Ability to work individually or with a team

For this STATE based position, the expected compensation range is $111,040 - $166,560 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
