Full-Time 40 hours. Overnight shift 11pm - 7 am M-F alternating weekends and Holidays



In a highly regulated environment (AABB, CAP, TJC, DPH, CMS), performs critical functions to assist the department in meeting the blood requirements of patients. Works in accordance with the department's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform testing and provide blood products to meet patient needs. Performs testing independently and is able to work as a team member in a busy laboratory environment. The Blood Bank Technologist is a resource for hospital and laboratory staff by providing direction and guidance, oversees inventory management, reviews testing and quality control, assists in new employee training, and in developing and modifying policies and procedures. Will perform all required Quality Control procedures; document results accurately and follow through appropriately on all outliers. They report all critical values to the appropriate person and complete the required documentation. Technologist will follow all organizational, departmental, and section policies such as Standard Precautions, Fire Safety, QA documentation, Hazardous Waste, etc. Must be familar with all aspects of blood bank testing including but not limited to: ABO, Rh, antibody screening, compatibility testing, direct antiglobulin testing, eloutions, and transfusion reaction investigations.



Qualifications


  • Baccalaureate Degree in a Science required

  • Must be CLIA eligible for High Complexity Testing

  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent preferred.

  • Internship or equivalent required

  • 3-5 years in a hospital laboratory experience preferred.
