About the Position

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is seeking a higher education professional to serve as Associate for Academic Affairs. The Associate will join a dynamic and dedicated team that is responsible for carrying out SCHEV's responsibilities and duties related to academic policy in public higher education in Virginia. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of academic issues in higher education, with an emphasis on one or more of the four following areas: academic degree program evaluation; degree program productivity; education-related legislative analysis; student learning assessment. Applications must include a cover letter that addresses the applicant's capacity to work in one or more of the four listed areas. The Associate must also have the skills and flexibility to contribute effectively when called on to support various ad hoc responsibilities in Academic Affairs, such as (but not limited to) assisting with cross-agency projects and initiatives and responding to requests and directives from the Governor and General Assembly. The Associate will be called on to support ongoing quality improvement measures related to SCHEV processes, to serve as a resource to Academic Affairs staff, and to serve as liaison to SCHEV advisory committees. The Associate for Academic Affairs must have the temperament and ability to work collaboratively with staff throughout the agency, and with representatives at institutions of higher education. SCHEV is located in Richmond, the political and cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
