Job Title:Research Scientist

Department:Arts and Sciences | Earth Sciences

Research Scientist for the Computational Hydrogeology Laboratory in the School of Earth Sciences embarks on a program of independent research in groundwater modeling to work collaboratively on quantifying the effects of sea level rise on saltwater instrusion and rising water tables in coastal aquifiers. The Research Scientist will be supervised by Professor Audrey Sawyer and will work closely with collaborators at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. Other duties will include writing manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals, preparing extramural funding proposals, presenting results at conferences/workshops and mentoring staff and students.

The target hiring range for this position is $60,000. The position is for 1 1/2 years with the opportunity for renewal for an additional year.

Required Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree in hydrology, earth science, civil or environmental engineering or a closely related area required with a minimum of 2 years of post-doctoral level work experience. Experience with MODFLOW is essential with knowledge of FloPy desireable. The candidate must also demonstrate a strong publication record for their career stage.
