Job Description:

Jing-Jin Electric North America is seeking a SMT Process Engineer to join our team!

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise operator training as required.
  • Program and operate all SMT equipment, including solder paste screen printers, pick and place machines to place components according to IPC-A-610 standards and inspect using SPI, AOI, and x-ray equipment.
  • Implement root cause analysis on major defects and provide effective corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate thermal profiles for SMT ovens for new and existing products.
  • Lead continuous manufacturability improvements including corrective action and Six-Sigma and/or other problem-solving methodologies in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work closely with electrical and mechanical Engineering teams to perform "Design for Manufacturability" and Design for Assembly" reviews on new and existing products to IPC and other recognized specifications.
  • Manage manufacturing assembly lines which include product build, functional testing, and all final inspections.
  • Manage the manufacturing processes related to surface mount technology.
  • Set process parameters related to solder paste printing, placement, temperature profiles for reflow oven process, rework station, AOI, x-ray, etc.
  • Analyze yield of SMT processes to ensure process capabilities and throughput.
  • Analyze SMT defects to determine likely failure modes. Provide an organized list of constructive suggestions and resolutions to help solve issues.
  • Manage quality inspection processes for PCBs and functional testing.
  • Develop, test, and implement continuous improvement processes for assembly and rework.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors' degree in engineering required; master's degree in engineering preferred
  • Minimum of three years working experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and manufacturing processes
  • Minimum of five years electronics manufacturing experience
  • Experience with creating and running individual DFM Reviews with peers to resolve all technical issues
  • Strong knowledge SMT components, boards, and equipment used for assembly
  • Must have experience with AOI, ICT, FCT, soldering processes/methods (e.g. wave soldering, reflow, ...), burn-in testing
  • Familiarity with MPM solder paste printing machines
  • Familiarity with Air Vac SMT semi-automatic rework machine
  • Familiarity with IPC/J-STD-001 Class III
  • Working experience in debugging, programming and run-off of machines and manufacturing lines
  • Must have experience in launching at least one electronics manufacturing line

Travel including occasional overnight travel is required. The employee must be able to safely drive an automobile to and from client sites.

The employee will be required to lift up to 35lbs.
