This position will work a hybrid work schedule; therefore candidates should be local to Brentwood/Nashville, TN.

Position Summary
The Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant performs simple to relatively complex analytical assignments and reviews tax, accounting, and treasury reports, often working in small teams. S/he assists Accounting leadership and senior-level accounting professionals with the month and year-end close. S/he assists the Accounting Department in fulfilling the Company's tax and regulatory accounting and compliance. This position supports the company's efforts to comply with the requirements of GAAP.

Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Conducts or assists in the documentation and support of tax and treasury projects of varying complexity.
  • Prepares schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors, income tax provisions, and returns.
  • Analyzes tax and treasury transactions for entry, posts entries upon approval, collects and evaluates data, conducts analysis, and prepares reports.
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of tax and treasury journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Reports inconsistencies to leadership.
  • Assists with the preparation of general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Maintains records of routine tax, treasury, and accounting transactions.
  • Assists in the preparation of tax, treasury, financial and operating reports including trial balances, adjustments, and closing entries.
  • Interprets and communicates financial reports and results for leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education And/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required.
  • Master's degree with a concentration in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
  • Three (3) years of related experience and/or training highly required.
  • Understanding and experience with bank reconciliation functions, posting journal entries, and month-end processing required.
  • Prior experience with SALT tax processes preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred but not required.
  • Workday Financial experience highly preferred.
Skills
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • CPA or CPA/CTP candidate preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
