Position Overview:
As the Washington National Tax Lead at Mauldin & Jenkins, you will be a key member of our Tax Department, providing expert guidance on complex tax matters, research, compliance, and planning strategies. Your primary responsibility will be to lead our firm's Washington National Tax practice, assisting client executives and their clients with intricate tax issues and ensuring compliance with ever-evolving tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of complex federal tax laws, regulations, and rulings.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and assess their potential impact on clients and the firm.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of industry-specific tax issues relevant to our client base.
Client Advisory Services
  • Provide expert guidance to clients on complex tax matters, including tax planning, restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, and compliance strategies.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing tax-saving opportunities for clients within the bounds of relevant tax authority.
  • Collaborate with clients and other team members to address their unique tax challenges effectively.
Tax Compliance Oversight
  • Provide technical review of complex federal tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal tax laws and regulations, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Monitor and address any potential tax compliance issues.
Team Leadership And Development
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals.
  • Provide guidance and support in the professional development of team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Coordinate team efforts to meet deadlines, ensuring efficient and effective client service delivery.
Client Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, serving as a trusted advisor in tax matters.
  • Collaborate with partners and other practice leaders to identify new business opportunities and expand our client base.
  • Participate in business development activities and assist with proposal development for prospective clients.
Thought Leadership And Industry Involvement
  • Demonstrate thought leadership by publishing articles, whitepapers, and delivering presentations on tax-related topics.
  • Actively engage in industry seminars, conferences, and professional associations to enhance firm reputation and market presence.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • CPA certification required and/or JD.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in federal taxation, with significant exposure to complex tax matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant tax laws, regulations, and rulings, including expertise in specific industries or sectors.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team of tax professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling effective client interactions and presentations.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing strategic tax advice and solving complex tax challenges.
