Job Description:

Perform designated tasks in the area of technical sub-ledger accounting relating to the Claims and Collections line of business

Key Responsibilities And Duties
  • Perform the monthly Collection company trust account bank reconciliation and the monthly Collection company operating account bank reconciliation.
  • Perform the monthly outstanding check and payment reconciliation for the Collection company's trust bank account and operating bank account.
  • Complete the Collection company's accounts payable sub-ledger reconciliation on a monthly basis.
  • Perform the reconciliation for the accounts receivable reconciliation for the Collection company, including an analysis of the accounts receivable sub-ledger.
  • Perform the reconciliation for the trust liability account for the Collection company and ensuring it stays in line with the trust account bank reconciliation.
  • Complete the monthly CBM accrual including the thorough analysis of the due to/from for the Insurance company and the Collections company.
  • Perform the recording and reconciling of the intercompany invoicing for the Insurance company and the Collection company.
  • Complete the revenue reconciliation and analysis for the Collections company and investigate any variances and out of balances.
  • Meet with Collections Operations to review monthly revenue and investigate any variances between accounting, operations, and finance.
  • Perform the intercompany netting for accounts payable on the Collections company including investigating any variances.
  • Monitor the incoming and outgoing bank transactions related to the EBS bank reconciliation process.
  • Complete the analysis of the sales tax report for the Collections company and investigate any variances.
  • Perform unclaimed property analysis for stale dated Collections payments.
  • Perform the bad debt journal entry including analysis of the bad debt for the month.
  • Perform an analysis on the incoming claims in the sub-ledger system and reconcile them to the general ledger checking for any discrepancies between the two system and working with Group Operations to ensure any discrepancies are corrected timely.
  • Analyze and record the quarterly legal fees for the Collections company.
  • Process and record the quarterly CBM invoices related to the Collections company and the US & Canadian insurance companies.
Required Qualifications And Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree.
  • 5-7 years' experience in accounting field, preferable in Insurance Industry.
  • Ability to design, test, interface and reconcile large amounts of data/calculations between highly technical systems
  • Accounting and analytics, basis for understanding of accounting, and advanced technical systems. Work in SAP environment preferred.
  • Ability to design, test, interface and reconcile large amounts of data/calculations between complex and highly technical systems.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting rules.
  • Public Accounting experience, Advanced degree or CPA a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, high volume setting, thanks to strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills.
  • High level of initiative, flexible, self-starter, highly accountable, and ability to be autonomous. Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Excel with expert knowledge of pivot tables and advanced formulas.
