Job Summary

Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance and improvement programs at the manufacturing site. Develop, implement, maintain and manage programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and company requirements. To monitor and continuously improve the site Process Safety Management System. To coordinate and participate in Process safety Management (PSM) efforts at the site, including PHAs, PSM audits, Process Safety training, MOCs, PSSR, Facility Siting, SIL/LOPA, QRA and investigations. Provide technical expertise to operating units to evaluate risks and cost-effectively resolve PSM issues.

  • Provide direction, technical support and a high level of expertise to the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) policies, standards and best practices; work with the site to ensure compliance with government regulatory requirements, applicable international standards, internal Policies/Standards and Responsible Care codes.
  • Assist with the development, evaluation, monitoring and reporting of PSM performance targets for the sites; Support the development of actions for improvement.

  • Assist with the development, evaluation, monitoring and reporting of PSM performance targets for the sites; Support the development of actions for improvement.
  • Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance and improvement programs at the site.
  • Coordinate the implementation of PSM policies, standards and strategy to establish a high level of protection for operations, incident prevention and compliance with government regulatory requirements, international standards and Responsible Care codes.
  • Support PSM auditing with respect to PSM implementation, measure performance, and compliance with global policies and standards and applicable regulatory requirements, including Responsible Care.
  • Oversee the site "management of change" processes; evaluate engineering procedures for safe plant startup and shutdown.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and manage programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and company requirements. Specifically, this involves the implementation and maintenance of the risk management process within company.
  • Lead and participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) for the site's PSM covered processes and balance of plant. Maintain associated documentation and Process Safety Information for site use. Present PHA results to site leadership as they are completed per schedule.
  • Developing guidelines to set control limits for critical operating parameters. Define safe operating parameters and control limits. Reduce process variability.
  • Collaborating with operations during the design of advanced process control Systems.
  • Selecting the correct mechanical integrity level for safety critical devices.
  • Evaluate new equipment / process designs to ensure process safety compliance. Design operator training processes and programs related to PSM programs.
  • Conduct training on Process Safety & Risk Management Plan elements.
  • Maintain, submit and communicate PSM related information and records as required by regulations and policies.
  • Knowledge of the powder standard and dust hazard analysis.

Requirements:
  • BS - preferred Chemical Engineering or related engineering with experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience
  • Petro or Chemical Industry operations or PSM experience with a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience within multiple Manufacturing roles (operations, maintenance, process and project engineering) is strongly desirable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft, prefer knowledge in SAP, Gensuite and Leader software.
  • Good knowledge of Chemical Manufacturing Processes.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral communications, including public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Ability to effectively monitor regulatory developments and industry trends.
  • Strong quantitative & analytical skills.
  • Strong written & oral communication skills.

Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs
