Job Description:
Hiring for Director/Manager, Generative AI
We're seeking an execution focused leader to lead applied initiatives for the Applied AI org. This person will be a
seasoned machine learning practitioner and guide research in one or more of the areas of NLP, Speech, LLMs, and
Generative AI. They will drive cutting edge, product-oriented research in a hands-on manner. This leader will also direct the
planning and execution of initiatives for the team, as we set out to create large language models with multilingual
capabilities.
In your role, you will:
? Lead teams of applied scientists to deliver on applied research initiatives
? Bring ideas from academia/industry research to production grade delivery
? Create the best practices for operational adoption of emerging AI/ML technology
? Communicate complex technological concepts in a clear and effective manner to senior leadership
? Hire and develop teams of applied science researchers in the areas of speech, language models, and computer
vision
? Drive core ML, infrastructure KPIs and metrics such as availability and latency SLAs
? Drive large-scale distributed deployment of models across GPU nodes running in Kubernetes clusters across
regions
Basic qualifications:
? MS in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of work experience in the field.
? 5+ years of experience managing applied science and engineering teams
? Publications in leading academic/industry journals
? Knowledge of deep learning and transformer architectures for speech, NLP, and computer vision
? Experience in building complex systems involving AI, ML, with successful delivery to customers.
? Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, or C/C++
Preferred qualifications:
? Ph.D. in Computer Science in the areas of LLMs, NLP, CV, Reinforcement Learning, and Generative models
? Prior experience with large-scale distributed training and fine-tuning of foundation models such as GPT-3, LLaMA,
AlphaFold, and DALL-E
? Experience with language modeling evaluation, prompt tuning and engineering, instruction tuning, and/or RLHF
? 3+ years of experience managing other managers and team leads
? Expertise in large language models, speech, and computer vision or the demonstrated ability to develop this
quickly
? Strong track record of research contributions in NLP, generative modeling, LLMs demonstrated through
publications and products
? Strong programming skills and proficiency in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and other ML frameworks and tools
? Experience in Information Extraction, Question Answering, Conversational Agents (Chatbots), Data Visualization
and/or text-to-image models
? Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a
clear and concise manner to a variety of audience
