Element Electronics started in 2007 with a simple belief - every home should have access to TVs with the latest technology. After a few years, we decided we wanted to do more; in 2014, we opened our factory in Winnsboro, SC making Element the only major television company assembling TVs in the United States. Today, we continue to push ourselves and have expanded our product range of electronics and home appliances while continuing to provide customers with products with the latest technology, but at the most accessible prices.

The Controller is a key member of the Element Electronics Finance team and is responsible for working closely with the leadership team, leading and developing the accounting team, and ensuring accurate reporting per accounting principles. This role is also responsible for developing and improving controls, policies, and procedures. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will have controllership responsibilities for all current consumer electronics manufacturing business units. The ideal candidate will have exceptional accounting knowledge and will drive excellence in our existing businesses. Strong technical skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of urgency, and accountability are a must for this business-critical role. Other responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the corporate accounting function, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, daily treasury, and payment processing.
  • Lead the adoption of new accounting standards, including technical research around the potential impact on the organization and establishment of processes to ensure proper accounting per standards after adoption.
  • Collaborate to ensure that accurate general ledger account balances for all income statement and balance sheet accounts are maintained through monthly reviewed reconciliations and other analyses.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and be the lead point of contact to external audit firms in planning and timely execution of the annual audit process.
  • Participate in developing and executing key strategic initiatives to help identify revenue enhancement and cost reduction opportunities and improve internal business processes.
  • Direct, develop, and implement short and long-term strategies, goals, and action plans to meet the Accounting Department's defined business objectives that align with Element's objectives.
  • Direct and support timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Assist leadership in various financial and operational accounting duties, controls, reviews, tax planning, and analysis activities.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience with no less than 3+ years at a Director or Controller level
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA required (inactive is acceptable)
  • MBA preferred
  • Agile and flexible mindset with the capability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to identify root causes of problems and implement solutions while keeping a holistic and long-term perspective in mind
  • Model flexibility, resiliency, and change management skills by staying self-aware, constantly learning, and finding ways to cut through ambiguous problems

  • Proven experience leading and inspiring teams to meet business objectives with outstanding results
  • Experience in managing remote teams
