Job Title: Associate Director, Accounting -North America (Hybrid)

SUMMARY:
This role reports to the US Controller, North America Shared Service Head. The Assoc. Director of Accounting oversees the monthly financial closing and account reconciliation process for all entities supported in the North America Finance Shared Services. This role will lead, train, and coach the accounting staff. In addition, the Assoc. Director will perform key financial analyses, research, and resolve accounting issues, make recommendations, implement process and control improvements, and document results and conclusions to ensure accuracy within the financial system of record.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:
Key Leader of North America Finance Shared Service Organization; currently supporting 6 entities.
Strong Leadership- provide clear direction; sustain high morale; foster open dialogue
Drive individual & team performance (6 team members). Develop / coach / mentor team members
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual book close
Provide variance analysis on inventory and related revaluation
Manage the monthly balance sheet account reconciliation process, including preparation & review
Coordinate and/or prepare quarterly Statutory Reporting for North American entities within Shared Services
Issue P&L & Balance Sheet fluctuation explanations to local and corporate colleagues
Perform analysis of P&L & Balance Sheet accounts
Present the Quarterly Balance Sheet Highlights to senior management
Preparation of Balance Sheet & Cash Flow Budgets
Responsible for the completion of weekly, monthly, and quarterly cash flow forecasting & analysis.
Responsible for monthly & quarterly Capital Expenditures & Fixed Assets Reporting
Ensure related party balance confirmations alignment on a quarterly basis
Work with various functional areas to develop monthly/quarterly accruals
Collaborate with tax department on annual tax provision & sales tax
Develop year end calendar & action items
Identify and implement process improvements (e.g. to streamline, automate, and simplify G/L activities)
Manage various SAP Finance projects and initiatives (such as upgrades, enhancements)
Lead or participate in cross functional or ad-hoc projects
Provide direction and assist with monthly, quarterly, annual government reports
Prepare/update Finance Standard Operating Procedures
Manage and assist in the completion of the interim & annual audit, including direct involvement with the external auditors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
3 Direct Reports-Sr. Manager, Accounting & 2 Senior Accountants Plus 3 Indirect Reports reporting to Sr. Manager of Accounting

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BS/BA degree or MBA in Accounting
8-10 years minimum finance / accounting experience
At least 5 years of management experience
Big Four public accounting experience preferred
Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus
Strong technical accounting knowledge is required
SAP software experience; S/4 Hana a plus
International Accounting Standards (IAS) knowledge a plus
Blackline - Account Reconciliation tool a plus
Sage Treasury System experience a plus
Experience with financial accounting systems.
Experience leading and developing a high performing team.
Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships including senior management.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
CPA certification required.
The position is hybrid with a possibility of in office presence as determined by manager or business needs.
