The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Buyer/Planner to join their team. This position plays a crucial role in the supply team by managing the procurement of technical components and materials required for the company's operations with a focus on new product introduction and production supply. By collaborating with suppliers, internal teams, and maintaining a strategic approach to procurement, this role contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the organization's product cost reduction efforts and supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to identify required components and materials.
Develop procurement strategies to reduce costs and accommodate lead times and market trends.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of technical components and materials.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
Create and manage purchase orders for technical components and materials.
Analyze demand forecasts and historical usage data to determine optimal inventory levels.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field; CPM or CPIM certification preferred.
Working knowledge of relevant part fabrication and assembly process including metals, plastics, printed circuit boards, electrical/mechanical assembly.
Proven cross functional collaboration leadership experience particularly with NPI to lead DFX and cost reduction efforts.
Current on commodity market pricing and availability for various metals, plastics, discrete electronics, and ICs.
Proficiency in using procurement and inventory management software; working knowledge of NetSuite MRP and Planning Workbench functionality a plus.
