LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their team in West Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of sourcing experience, with a focus on purchasing Resins, Inks, Adhesives, Corrugated Boxes, Skids, Printers, and Raw Materials commodities for finished goods. Experience in the flexible packaging industry is highly preferred. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing a small purchasing team and will play a key role in bidding, sourcing new vendors, and cost containment efforts. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the purchasing function, including sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management, to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimize cost savings and ensure a reliable supply of materials.
Manage relationships with existing suppliers and identify new vendors to expand the supplier base.
Lead bidding processes and negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure alignment of purchasing activities with business objectives.
Manage a small purchasing team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure departmental goals are met.
Implement processes and systems to streamline purchasing workflows and improve efficiency.
Focus on cost containment initiatives to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of sourcing experience, with a focus on purchasing Resins, Inks, Adhesives, Corrugated Boxes, Skids, Printers, and Raw Materials commodities for finished goods.
Experience in the flexible packaging industry is highly preferred.
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills, with a track record of achieving cost savings and improving supplier performance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Leadership experience, with the ability to manage a small team and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Strong proficiency in MS Office and MS Dynamics a plus.
