Job Title: Materials And Process Engineer (Entry-Level)
Location: Chillicothe IL
Duration: 24+ Months
Pay Rate: $30 - $33/hr.
Summary
Individual will work under the direction of an experienced non-metallic engineer to collaborate with design teams and manufacturing engineers in the development of new designs and troubleshooting existing designs and processes. Assist engineers in understanding trade-offs when considering various non-metallic materials for designs. Job involves validation of materials and processes for new applications, writing and revising material specifications, and failure analysis.
Job Responsibilities:
Reviewing material specifications (mostly polymers and adhesives)
Consulting with design engineers to determine the suitability of materials for applications.
Preparing summary reports
Attending technical meetings
Lab testing as needed.
Comparing/contrasting material properties
Daily, one-on-one discussions with various team members and internal clients
E-mails and messaging
In-person and virtual Teams meetings
Skills:
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
Team player and detail oriented.
Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, plastics technology/engineering, materials science, or related field
Technical Skills
Proficiency with computer, especially with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
(Desired)
1-3 years of experience in plastic and/or adhesive material selection, manufacturing, and/or design
Ability to learn basic print reading and data analysis tools.
Soft Skills
Good organizational skills, ability to work independently, and good oral and written communication skills.
Willingness and motivation to learn new technologies and concepts.
