We partnered with a global laboratory services provider in Boston seeking a talented IP attorney with a background in the engineering, biotech and/or physics space. This will be a highly visible role that will report directly to the General Counsel of the organization and work closely with various senior leaders in business teams. This position will play a lead role in patent prosecution, preparation, and analysis, and will also have the opportunity assist on commercial transactions. This company has a strong client base and has been steadily growing over the past few years.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
Offer guidance and support to inventors starting from the initial concept stage, throughout the patenting process, and after the grant.
Oversee external legal counsel managing patent prosecution to ensure their strategies are in line with the company's business objectives.
Manage external trademark counsel to safeguard the company's valuable brands during the trademark prosecution process.
Provide comprehensive intellectual property (IP) advice to legal team members and clients regarding patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Play a key role in integrating IP matters during the acquisition of new targets to ensure seamless integration.
REQUIRMENTS:
7+ years of IP legal work in an in-house and law firm setting
Must posses a J.D.
Admitted to at least one state bar
Registered to practice before U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
