Amp Americas manages one of the largest ultra-low carbon impact renewable natural gas portfolios in the US. Amp operates three business units: Amp Americas Development, Amp Americas Services, and Amp Americas RNG Marketing. Amp's dairy RNG projects produce 100% renewable natural gas from on-farm anaerobic digester to vehicle fuel projects. Amp Services leverages Amp's expertise in managing, operating, and maintaining dairy RNG projects to provide these services to third parties. Position Summary
The RNG Assistant Plant Manager will provide on-site operations and technical management for a renewable natural gas plant. You will report to the RNG Plant Manager of RNG Service Delivery and be responsible for supporting the Plant Manager for all operations and personnel at the plant. You will also assist with the final stages of biogas plant construction and startup as well as commission and safely operate equipment for all production processes performed at the biogas facility. Additional responsibilities will include coordinating and enforcing plant safety protocols and production rules and regulations. You will also monitor, document, and troubleshoot biogas operation per established procedures. As the Assistant Plant Manager, you will train and supervise technicians on plant operations and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the plant to ensure that all production and safety goals are met
Coordinate with the construction team to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. This will include interfacing with utilities, local municipalities, regulatory agencies, etc.
Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc.
Implement and maintain tight quality control issues
Assist the AMP Americas team in developing and implementing project procedures, management tools and standards, etc.
Review and help develop change order requests to deliver a high-quality project
Learn, understand, and comply with all plant safety always rules and regulations
Hold self and others accountable for safe operations, wear required PPE, and actively participate in regular safety training and testing
Safely operate production equipment and systems for all products manufactured by the Company according to established procedures
Monitor efficiency of production processes via computerized systems and visual inspection of large equipment that can be extremely hot, heavy, under pressure, and at elevated heights
Learn and thoroughly understand the sequence of plant operations, purpose and implications of control systems, source/destination of piping, and how operations of each impact other areas in the Company
Participate in hiring, promoting, training, and developing direct reports
With the guidance of the Plant Manager, assign job tasks to plant operators including but not limited to quality checks, plant performance, troubleshooting, general operations, and problem-solving
Perform plant inspections including walking through the entire plant on each shift while looking and listening for equipment and process problems
Perform quality-control tests and log accurate results according to established procedures
Make extra checks on problem areas and adjust as needed for the optimization of plant through-put
Keep up-to-the-minute records of activities, shutdowns, abnormal operations, troubleshooting, and problem areas
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Interpret company policies to plant operators and enforce safety regulations
React quickly to problem situations and directions given by management
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications
Associate degree, vocational technical diploma, or equivalent technical experience (required)
Bachelor's degree is preferred
5 years of experience working in a process production environment or natural gas industry with understanding of process flow
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment
Use of basic handheld instruments and basic computer skills for navigating spreadsheets and entering production data is highly desirable
Experience in the use of CMMS systems is required, (Fiix) proficiency is preferred
Gas Compression experience: 5+ years
Manufacturing and operations: 5+ year
Must be able to work both independently and as a team member
Ability to multi-task effectively
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Able to use basic handheld instruments
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Able to climb fixed and movable ladders up to 35 feet high
Ability to use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, electric drills, impact wrenches, shovels, brooms, etc.)
Able to perform basic maintenance duties proficiently (replace/repair wear parts in machinery, adjust equipment, open/close tanks, and heat exchangers, etc.)
Comfortable working in confined spaces as needed (varies from daily to infrequently) and overhead work (reaching overhead and/or working on elevated equipment, etc.)
Ability to repetitively lift/bend/kneel/walk/climb daily, depending on plant operation issues and work to be done
Willingness to wear and appropriately use all required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection, hard hats, etc.)
