HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Exciting opportunity with one of the most rapidly growing teams in the company. The Thermal team is looking for a dynamic engineering leader to direct the formulation and implementation of engineering strategies to achieve the short- and long-term profit and growth objectives of the business. Responsible for all aspects of the design and development of thermal systems, including management of engineering, design, and application support. Responsible for all aspects of existing product support, utilizing the above resources.
  • Maintains consistent interface other departments. Reports to the Managing Director.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Provides leadership of engineering staff to maintain business objectives.
  • Interfaces with other departments to provide effective engineering support for company's business goals maintaining a reliable interface with Operations, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Sales as required.
  • Develops and improves engineering policy, practices, and procedures with peer managers.
  • Manages and reports on project schedules, resource loading, resource priorities, resource utilization, and advises on resource planning.
  • Initiates, advises on, and supports engineering design review, engineering project scheduling, project execution tracking, and effective change control and documentation definition and reporting, resulting in successful project support and review process.
  • Responsible for developing engineering concepts, prototyping of concepts, design proposals, design iterations, design execution, and design cycle wrap up review.
  • Responsible for the design and development of standard systems, and custom systems.
  • Hires, trains, motivates, and supervises engineers and technicians as members of the department.
  • Performs employee performance reviews, advises on employee goals, and monitors performance per company policies.
  • Responsible for training programs and training of employees as required to perform their engineering duties.
  • Ensures all engineering practices and safety practices are complied with.
  • Supports design and engineering tasks as a contributing Engineer.
  • Requires strong technical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrates an ability to effectively manage an engineering department within a high-tech company.
  • Domestic and International travel is required.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.
  • Achievement of objectives must include an over-riding commitment to quality that must permeate the areas of responsibility.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • BS in Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years' experience as a thermal engineer in a related technical field, and 5+ years' experience as an engineering manager.
  • Proven ability to manage and control projects and monitor performance of same.
  • Ability to manage change in a complex, high-technology, multi-disciplined environment.
  • Able to communicate internally and externally as a technical authority in the field, supported by the engineering staff.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • A typical day requires continuous sitting and/or standing in an office setting with occasional breaks. Standing and walking around 100k sq. ft. facility extensively throughout the day.
  • Able to comfortably lift 35 pounds without injury.
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Occasionally subjected to low temperatures and high temperatures
  • Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
