Who you are:

The Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Intern uses AI/ML technologies and application development tools to create, test and implement AI/ML models at Trellis. This position aligns with internal partners to research problem requests, find, and correct production problems, develop application features, perform quality reviews of project deliverables and maintenance work in advance of being implemented into production.

Location:

The position is hybrid, onsite requirement partially through the work week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Intern, you will join a team of developers and business analysts who are passionate about creating software products that serve the needs of Trellis Company's customers. The position incumbent is expected to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities of the position with reasonable accommodation:


  • Participate in the design, implementation, and testing of features for various products.

  • Work in a team-oriented environment with flexibility to work independently.

  • Consults with application development team on software products and development methodologies.

  • Assist the application design team with accomplishing tasks related to the development of new software to streamline business processes.

  • Assist with new and alternate solutions to improve existing processes and procedures.

  • Conduct research on new products and tools that may assist customer's business needs.

  • Test software applications for efficiency and identify if any bugs and proposed fixes.

  • Research and present new machine learning/artificial intelligence methods to fulfill business use case objectives.

  • Contribute to the development of centralized AI toolkit modules, utilizing modern platforms and technologies.

  • Aid in the production of thorough documentation for AI projects to ensure clarity, scalability, and knowledge transfer.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in team meetings using productivity tools like O365, Teams etc.

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Follows all corporate policies and procedures and performs all work functions in a sage and efficient manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To be eligible for this internship, you should:


  • Understand Object-Oriented Design, Unified Modeling Language (UML) Notation, Relational and Non-Relational Standard Query Language (NoSQL) databases.

  • Strong working knowledge of programming languages Python, and/or Java, R.

  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, preprocessing data for model development, AI/ML model development, training, validating, performance tuning, and implementing in production.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications:

Education

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

Required:


  • Ability to work with large datasets and use data analysis and visualization libraries and tools.

  • Able to apply machine learning algorithms/techniques, neural networks, and deep learning frameworks to develop data models and tune them.

  • Work with text data and apply natural language processing techniques.

  • Working knowledge of JSON, RESTful services, Git, one or more UX frameworks like SpringBoot, Tkinter, React, Angular, JavaScript etc.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of no code AI/ML tools Rapid Miner, KNIME etc.

  • Knowledge of Azure OpenAI, LLaMA2, Gemini LLM services, Data Analytics etc.

  • Experience with integrating research AI/ML prototypes into production applications.

Physical and Mental Demands:


  • Occasionally must move about inside the office.

  • Occasionally may provide presentations and services to internal and external contacts in a variety of business and work settings.

  • Visual acuity. Regularly must have close visual acuity to view and enter information into computer and software systems, analyze data, develop presentations and reports, and other materials.

  • Mental focus. Requires worker to maintain focus and exchange detailed and accurate information through oral and written communication.

Work Environment:

  • Work may be conducted remotely or in an office with a small cubicle environment.

  • Office work environment is climate controlled with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
