Functional Objectives:
The manufacturing engineer provides a professional technical service to the plant. He or she ensures that the equipment and process are meeting customer demands in terms of safety, quality, throughput, and reliability. The manufacturing engineer is an agent for continuous improvement in these same areas. He or she is self-directed and self-starting.
Specific Duties:
Specification, installation, and implementation of plant machinery, tooling, and equipment.
Oversee equipment installation, modifications and design.
Executes timely and accurate preparation of required business case documents.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, and direct problem solving when needed.
Develop manufacturing process techniques and equipment to improve safety, ergonomics, quality, and productivity.
Formal and informal problem solving, using tools such as A3, KT, DMAIC (six sigma), or others.
Utilize project management, equipment maintenance, and engineering projects to ensure customer expectations and KPI expectations are exceeded.
Assess scrap and control process through problem solving techniques and data collection.
Has scheduled meetings with plant operations personnel to review project progress and identification of future projects.
Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Works closely with other disciplines to insure DFM/DFA in a lean manufacturing environment.
Development, training, and guiding process technicians
Management and upkeep of APQP documentation such as process flow charts, PFMEAs, standard work instructions, and manufacturing layouts.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and practices
Execute capital (and non-capital) equipment and process projects
Education and Professional Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, chemical, or manufacturing preferred)
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with PLC programming and ladder logic preferred.
Experience in robotics programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics preferred.
Functional in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Excel, Power-point, and other related programs.
