What You'll Be Doing

The Vice President of Real Estate Originations is responsible for driving the strategic direction of all mortgage and equity origination activities. Requires a strong background and emphasis on developing and providing a world-class Member experience, advanced analytical capabilities and process/system enhancements driving a positive impact on year-over-year growth objectives.
  • Leads the optimization of the real estate originations team.
  • Owns the design and iteration of standard operation procedures, polices and service level agreements across all key originations functions, including loan originations, initial product development, internal business development and loan pricing administration; ensuring a highly efficient and accurate output, while providing a world-class Member experience.
  • Oversees the development of processes and technologies elevating the team's skills and awareness of contemporary lending environments, including purchase, refinance and home equity practices.
  • Oversees the development, ongoing enhancements and monitoring of the Originations Compensation Plan.
  • Develops robust and effective partnerships with key areas of the organization, including but not limited to, Branches, MCC and Membership Development. Increasing awareness, providing training and identifying opportunities to better engage the Membership.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with Strategic Marketing; working in collaboration to develop robust marketing initiatives, driving Member awareness and participation.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate analytical tools and reporting, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement in the areas of Member Experience, efficiency and productivity.
  • Advise senior management on key financial and originations trends, providing performance improvement recommendations.
  • Evaluate and manage essential Home360 business partners, driving value to our Members and the organization.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Develop and coach managers and team by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, setting priorities and progressing teammembers' technical skills and knowledge.
  • Manages division budget.
  • Handles the most sensitive Member issues to ensure a positive Member experience and outcome.
  • Contributes to organizational strategies and priorities as a member of Leadership team. Establishes and implements strategies that have mid to long-term (3-5 years) impact on business results in alignment with organization objectives.
  • Appropriately identifies, evaluates, and manages risk within area and implements risk mitigation strategies and activities as appropriate.
  • Supports credit union in overall financial objectives and Member Service goals.
  • Provides insights and recommendations as to the strength of the Credit Union's brand and ways of enhancing them.
  • Guides the department's development by soliciting feedback from its internal customers and making needed improvements.
  • Takes initiative to bring forward and implement ideas that help the credit union grow successfully.

Additional Job Functions

  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented self starter, able to work independently.
  • Excellent analytical ability, and the ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.
  • Broad knowledge of, and practical experience with, credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products and services and the laws and regulations which apply to credit unions.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work with all levels of management and credit union staff, as well as Members.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System
  • Registry as a mortgage loan originator in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the "SAFE Act") when applicable.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience required
  • 7-10 years previous experience required
