Alliant Energy has several openings for Sr. Operational Technology Systems Administrator to join the team in Madison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA. This position is part of our support team for our most critical generation and distribution assets. You will get to help set the direction and process in these roles and help improve security and compliance.


In this role you will design, provide day-to-day administration and technical support for key applications, integrations and servers related to Operational Technology (OT) systems. Deploy technical solutions that adhere to secure architectures. Participate in the analysis, recommendations, testing, and implementation of OT systems and processes.



Job Responsibilities:


  • Participates and leads in the planning and design of OT technical solutions including research, running proof-of-concepts and evaluating RFP/RFI submissions.


  • Provides architecture and design support for OT systems, including applications, servers, workstations, networking equipment and/or other applicable systems.


  • Participates and leads in medium to high complexity team level projects impacting OT systems and security. Stays informed of progress on company, department, and team level projects impacting OT systems.


  • Responsible for advanced phases of OT systems administration including policy management, installation, asset hardening, patching, testing, debugging and documentation.


  • Leads process improvement and automation efforts at the team level. Works with direct supervisor on annual process improvement and automation targets.


  • Identifies, plans, implements, documents, and follows requirements for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) regulations and other applicable regulations, reference architectures and security frameworks.


  • Develops procedures and drives processes based on technology standards, controls and reference architectures for cybersecurity system protection.


  • Performs work processes which follow security policies. Prepares and maintains operational documentation. Establishes procedures for the Help Desk to resolve minor issues and problems.


  • Manages lifecycle projects including purchasing, configuring, installing and documentation.


  • Participates in 24x7 on call rotation.





Required Qualifications



  • 6 years of experience in application support or server, workstation, networking, storage or virtual infrastructure administration.


  • Certification at intermediate or advanced level in server administration, networking, firewall administration or applications development.





Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree -Emphasis in information technology or related area.


  • Experience leading projects using project management tools and involving multiple teams preferred.


  • Exposure to Operations Technology (SCADA) systems.


  • Exposure to compliance regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), NERC CIP or TSA a plus.


  • Proven knowledge of database, network, server, and remote connectivity security practices.
