About the Team

Bose's PAE organization provides test support for new product validation, continuous improvement engineering and standards development. As a member of Bose's in-house team of subject matter experts, you will be responsible to create and implement test plans that assure the quality of Bose products across varying environmental, dynamic and cosmetic stress conditions throughout its fielded lifetime. Additionally, you will develop and maintain test methodologies and standards required to validate Bose products. This position will provide support to the Consumer Electronic Division and work with our Global partners to deliver groundbreaking audio products that delight our customers.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Test Engineer, you'll be working closely with Reliability, Validation, Packaging and Mechanical Design Engineers, you will be responsible to develop the environmental validation test requirements for new products and oversee the execution of these test plans through the start of production for the product. This will include developing comprehensive test requirements using a risk-based approach using product descriptions and discussions with the design community.

You will direct technicians to schedule tests, monitor progress of the testing, and make final determination of the pass or fail status of each test. Typical tests include, but are not limited to, acoustic life, thermal, humidity, vibration mechanical shock including fixture design, shipping simulation, corrosion, weathering simulation, and various cosmetic tests.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Ensure testing is comprehensive, performed correctly, and all failure modes are identified and documented.

  • Assist in these findings, you will take part in disassembly and analysis of tested parts, looking for evidence of potential problems as well as diagnosing failures.

  • Similarly, this position will be required to support environmental and mechanical testing for continuous engineering improvement work on existing products and, support CMF activities.

  • Support continuous improvement activities by performing correlation studies, creating or amending test methodologies, and improving efficiencies within the work group.

  • This person will provide failure analysis, insight, and feedback to our manufacturing partners during development, as well as, evaluate new technologies and materials to support advanced development.

About You


  • Extensive exp. with root cause analysis

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong documentation skills, close attention to detail and strong schedule management.

  • Reasonable understanding of basic electrical circuits and components and, reliability statistics.

  • A working knowledge of data acquisition is also required. Knowledge of NX or CAD is a plus.

  • Differentiating skills would be the addition of Design for Reliability and Physics of Failure concepts and methods familiarity.

  • This position requires a flexible style that can shift priorities and modulate work efforts as issues arise, with a strong commitment to meeting project deadlines. An ability to manage multiple projects concurrently is a must, as is the ability to work independently.
