Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital of Long Beach. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values: Integrity, Accountability, Best Practices, Compassion and Synergy. The employee shall support LBMC and MCWHLB strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
1. Performs administrative duties including typing correspondence, reports, memoranda from the Spiritual Care leadership team (Director and Manager).
2. Ensures the efficient management of the department operations and maintains the Director's and Manager's calendar as assigned
3. Must be organized and have the ability to schedule appointments and coordinate arrangements for Spiritual Care department related meetings and services, including coordination with catering, parking and transportation, Public Safety, front desks, audio/visual equipment (in chapel and meditation room), and other arrangements as needed
4. Answers and screens telephone calls/emails for all office staff; responds to routine telephone/email inquiries and ensures the accurate recording of information for the staff to respond to request(s)
5. Efficiently and effectively takes minutes for department management meetings and other meetings as assigned by Spiritual Care leadership team. Assists in the preparation, planning and execution of the agenda
6. Communicates effectively in written and verbal form using appropriate grammar as well as transcribes from dictation and compose non-routine correspondence on own initiative
7. Collect and distribute mail in a timely manner, and in accordance with established department procedures
8. Assist with Decedent Affairs needs, working closely with the Spiritual Care leadership team as well as Decedent Affairs chaplain on daily roles and responsibilities.
9. Offers to assist others in our department when work is completed without being prompted
10. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of End of Life, Advance Directives, Compassion Fatigue, spiritual assessment, care plans, cross cultural beliefs, and issues related to spiritual care in the medical setting.
11. Performs other duties as assigned
12. Ability to be at work and be on time
13. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives
14. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner
15. Ability to prioritize and multitask
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
