Job Description Summary

The Food and Beverage Lead Hostess with Supervisory Duties is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of hostess duties while providing exemplary customer service. This role involves supervisory responsibilities, including pre-shift meetings, ensuring staff attendance, and maintaining supplies. The Lead Hostess also assists with various tasks throughout the restaurant and collaborates with other team members to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.

Work Environment:


  • Must be able work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e., freezers, loading dock.

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to r each overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and stooping. Climb ladders of various heights.

  • Ability to stand entire shift.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work:

  • Hours of operation may vary based upon business needs, a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and hours are required.

Travel:

  • No travel required.

Education and Experience:


  • Highschool diploma or GED required.

  • Relevant experience in restaurant or hotel food preparation preferred.

Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:


  • Ensure security protocols are followed by completing necessary forms and signing out Food and Beverage outlet keys.

  • Manage mail distribution and handle phone messages in the Restaurant Outlets.

  • Check email information for updates from management personnel.

  • Greeting and seating guests, providing menus, and answering initial questions.

  • Manage guest flow and table rotation to optimize server overload.

  • Ability to read menus and communicate clearly with guest and team members.

  • Handling phone calls, reservations, and inquiries.

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with AM & PM teams to review information, ensure staff attendance, and address any concerns or requests made by associates.

  • Verify staff attendance, including checking with different teams to ensure all associates have reported for duty. Address any sick calls and arrange replacements as necessary. Inform Food and Beverage managers of any attendance issues.

  • Complete administrative tasks such as ADP edits, financial inputs, and maintaining logs, binders related to Food and Beverage.

  • Provide aid and support to various Food and Beverage teams as needed. Assist with tasks such as expediting orders, delivering food and beverages, bussing tables, bartending, and replenishing supplies, and responding to guest inquiries and complaints.

  • Coordinate with Culinary staff, servers, bartenders, and other team members to ensure smooth operations during shifts.

  • Engage with guests to ensure their satisfaction with food and service. Address any complaints or concerns promptly and ensure they are resolved to the guest satisfaction.

  • Perform closing duties, including updating logs, checking with associates to ensure closing duties are completed, ensuring side work is completed, and conducting walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and security of the Food and Beverage outlets.


  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.

  • Display daily professional, courteous, attentive, helpful, and positive attitude towards all guests, fellow employees, and managers.

  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team to reach common goals.

  • Perform other job duties as requested by supervisors/managers as other job duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Understanding Sonesta's company and safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA and the health department requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Valid Driver's License preferred.

  • Previous experience in food and beverage or hospitality industry preferred.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure.

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks.

  • Knowledge of ADP systems and financial reporting preferred.

  • Ability to work unsupervised and follow instructions accurately.

  • Reading and writing abilities to understand departmental correspondence and complete all required departmental documents.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including dealing with difficult guests.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Additional Job Information/Anticipated

Pay Range

$ 29.95-32.05. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills, and job specific/overall experience.
