Who we are looking for

As a Managing Director in the Corporate Strategy team, you will participate in complex strategy projects, working with senior leaders across the organization. Your focus will be on our Asset Management business as the Head of Asset Management Strategy. You will also have the opportunity to work on enterprise projects for overall State Street depending on the highest strategic priorities of the leadership team.

Typical projects could include strategy development, market entry or exit, market segmentation, product / customer positioning and profitability, analyzing fintech opportunities for partnerships/acquisitions, and capital investment decisions.

What you will be responsible for

As Managing Director, Head of Asset Management Strategy you will

• Understand strategic issues faced by the business, especially State Street's Asset Management business line and Asset Manager customer segments


• Run projects designed to assess and address those strategic issues: from framing up-front work plans to crafting and executing on the analyses and steps outlined in those plans


• Distill complex information down into clear, actionable insights for senior management


• Propose and design ongoing methods for monitoring the health of the business


• Communicate results and findings to senior management


• Own relationships with key partners


• Engage in "quick hit" deliverables for senior leadership


• Identify business investment needs for purposes of financial planning and subsequent tracking


• Mentor less-experienced team members to develop a collaborative and challenging team environment focused on development and growth

• Strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills


• Strong work-ethic with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines


• Strong communication skills to clearly articulate ideas and ability to use experience and analysis to gain support and work with internal and external parties


• Excellent critical-thinking skills with ability to structure and solve complex business problems


• Ability to juggle multiple priorities at once, including quick turn-around high priority items

• 7+ years of work experience in strategy functions


• Asset management industry experience and/or top-tier strategy consulting experience with exposure to Asset Management, preferred


• MBA or CFA preferred


• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to coach and develop team members


• Financial analysis skills


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Salary Range:
$170,000 - $267,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
