Role description:

Arcadis is seeking candidates for a Civil Engineering Intern who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) or a Masters (MS) degree at an ABET accredited degree program in Civil Engineering to join our Resilience Water South team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring engineer to join our nationally recognized technical staff and utilize their expertise and knowledge of flood control infrastructure design & construction to explore a career in water resources engineering.

Role accountabilities:

The candidate can expect to participate in activities ranging from observing construction of ongoing coastal resiliency projects to concept level planning to the preparation of detailed engineering designs and construction specifications for heavy civil infrastructure projects. Project examples may include coastal restoration, levees, floodwalls, waterways, reservoirs, locks, dams, drainage systems, and roadways. The position will be focused on gaining hands on experience with ongoing construction projects, data evaluation and geotechnical engineering design of flood protection structures.

This role will support licensed engineers who are responsible for preparing the design of flood protection and coastal resiliency structures The candidate will have an opportunity to gain technical proficiency with geotechnical design that model slope stability and seepage such as GeoStudio's SlopeW and SeepW, structural Ensoft Programs, and MS Office applications.

The candidate can expect to be mentored by our excellent technical staff to cultivate the knowledge and skillsets that will be needed for a successful career in design of flood protection and coastal resiliency structures.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Enrollment in an ABET-accredited bachelor's or Masters degree program in Civil Engineering
