Business Communications Advisor - U.S. Employer Business at Cigna in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

Cigna Healthcare is seeking a strategic and consultative communications professional to join the U.S. Employer business communications team.This individual will support senior leader and internal communications for the U.S. Employer business segment, and support key communications initiatives for the U.S. Employer business.

A successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong writing skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, effectively navigate and build relationships across business organizations, the Communications team, marketing, sales and senior leadership. They will successfully provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders and business partners, create and execute a comprehensive employee communications strategy to support business objectives, craft internal and external leadership presentations and speeches; and develop employee intranet content and videos as needed.

Responsibilities :


  • Creating and executing internal communications strategies to drive key business efforts within Cigna Healthcare's U.S. employer business, including senior leader email communications, town hall events, and intranet content

  • Responsible for overall management of the U.S. Employer business's intranet site, including developing the content strategy and managing the content editorial calendar, writing feature articles, and working with technology counterparts to update and/or launch new pages as needed

  • Provide counsel and advice on significant business communication matters, often requiring cross-organization coordination and collaboration across a highly matrixed environment.

  • Develop senior leader talking points, executive remarks, and emcee scripts for high-profile client and consultant/broker events.

  • Provide advanced professional input to complex Business Communications projects, using independent judgment and discretion.

  • Support issues management work across business as needed.

  • Partners closely across the communication team and businesses to develop communication strategy and leverage internal and external channels appropriate.

  • Monitoring and evaluating results of communications programs, using specific metrics to track progress and insights for continuous improvement.

Qualifications :


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in communications or related discipline and 6-8 years' experience in corporate communications or a public relations agency.

  • Communications experience with health insurance, benefit management, employers, consultant/brokers or sales is a plus.

  • Strong writing and editing skills a must; ability to write for a variety of audiences across multiple communication channels and executive styles.

  • Executive communications experience, including working closely with senior executives and providing communications counsel.

  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex content into concise and succinct messages and stories that will resonate with internal audiences.

  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguous scenarios with the ability to pivot directions as needed.

  • Adept at planning, managing and prioritizing work to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, highly motivated, creative self-starter who is eager to take on projects, learn new concepts, and dive into new territories.

  • Strong creative skills, including with visual communications and video editing.

  • Willingness to come into the office majority of the time and travel occasionally within the U.S.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 85,600 - 142,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
