Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Power Distribution Engineer to join the Reliability Team for the Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.
Initially this position focused on Operational Readiness, ensuring the plant properly commissioned, and ready to support a safe, orderly, and timely start-up of the facility. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional reliability role characterized by normal plant operations.
This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations. #HPCP
Responsibilities
Participate and complete Operational Readiness activities supporting the commissioning and startup of the facility.
Participate in system completion walkdowns, and PSSRs.
Develop the Inspection, Testing, and Preventative Maintenance methodologies for power systems ensuring they follow company and industry standards.
Provide technical expertise to the Project and Maintenance organizations within the facility on electrical systems to ensurethat design of equipment and systems meets the intent of corporate and plant design standards.
Performs factory acceptance tests and monitor the quality of repaired electrical components at vendor shops.
Consult with Corporate Reliability Team for implementation of new reliability programs and standards.
Lead and participate in equipment failure and incident investigation including making improvement recommendations.
Assist in maintenance of HV substations.
Drive the plant bad actor elimination program for electrical equipment.
Perform/champion Arc Flash studies on any changes to electrical distribution system.
Network with internal and external resources including vendors and contractors to develop effective solutions to equipment issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience.
Working knowledge of low, medium voltage (5kV-34.5kV), and high voltage (138kV) electrical equipment including switchgear, MCC, motors, UPS, and transformers.
Experience with industry codes and standards. (NFPA, NESC, ANSI, IEEE, API, NEMA, NETA)
Experience with electrical preventative maintenance programs Experience with NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ETAP and/or SKM.
Experience with event data and settings of feeder, motor, and line protection relaying.
Experience working in the petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
Experienced with troubleshooting of electrical systems through one-line diagrams, control wiring/schematic diagrams, and protection relay event data.
Experience with HV substation maintenance.
