Permitting Engineer Co-Op/Intern



A Permitting Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic for the Permitting Department is responsiblefor supporting the preparation, of all applicable land use permits required forthe minerals and concentrates operations. FishHawk site located in Lithia, FL. Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.



Term



September 9 to December 20, 2024


Full time Co-Op/Internship. Typically, 36-40 hrs a week on site.



What will you do?



Day to day work assignments assigned by the supervisor and could include:


  • Project execution and management (including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, contractor management, etc.)


  • Review all aspects related to permitting projects, including working with the various subject matter expert consultants, legal counsel, the preparation of permit applications, and on-site inspections and support of the Operations staff


  • Prepare permit applications, and other written deliverables


  • Collaborate with Mosaic's Procurement team in developing scope of works, preparing requests for quotes and proposals (RFQs/RFPs), listing potential bidders, conducting pre-bid meetings, evaluating bids, writing purchase orders, etc.


  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), environmental health and safety staff, and contractors


  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment


  • Adhering to Mosaic's mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies





What do you need for this role?



  • Sophomore level or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Biology and/or Environmental policy or sciences.


  • 2.75 GPA or higher


  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment


  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required


  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred


  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.


  • Basic computer skills are required


  • Experience working in a team environment is a must


  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable


  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus


  • Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments
