Job Description:

HunaTek requires a Washington, DC based full-time Project Manager to support the management and implementation of projects to detect, disrupt, and investigate the smuggling of radiological and nuclear (R/N) materials that could be used in acts of terrorism in support of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Global Material Security, Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD). NSDD works across the globe with more than 80 partner countries to integrate R/N detection capabilities into existing security operations both at borders and in between enhances a partner country's national security by building a layered defense strategy. NSDD provides partners with comprehensive solutions to counter R/N smuggling. For example, NSDD may provide border security and law enforcement agencies with mobile radiation detection systems installed in vehicles for use in intelligence-driven searches and at roadside checkpoints. NSDD may also provide mission enabling solutions that increase a partner's probability of encountering R/N smuggling activity. NSDD also provides access to in-depth educational and support programs on topics including operation and maintenance of radiation detection systems and mission enabling equipment, development of standard operating procedures and regulations, investigation support, technical peer to peer partnerships, and a wide variety of customized tabletop and field exercises. This Project Manager will support NSDD federal staff with the management and oversight of domestic or international projects and portfolios as assigned. The project principal should have a background and experience in international affairs, national security, public policy, communications, or a related field. The Project Manager is expected to work with the client, NSDD, to support the efforts described above. Essential Job Functions:
  • Support the development and maintenance of project work plans; portfolio or country engagement strategies; as well as remain aware of project milestones, funding requirements, and challenges to implementation.
  • Attend regular and ad hoc coordination meetings to provide input on project status, performance tracking, and policy or technical issues.
  • Support the development of programmatic policy and technical analysis on R/N smuggling and detection issues and topics.
  • Develop and deliver briefings and reports on R/N smuggling and detection issues and topics associated with NSDD programmatic efforts.
  • Respond to quick turn requests for information related to projects within assigned portfolio.
  • Participate in meetings and collaboration activities with domestic and international organizations and associations on R/N smuggling and detection.
  • Support and interact with other NSDD program staff, DOE national laboratories, other federal agencies, and different offices within DOE to participate in project specific calls and interagency meetings.
  • Identify and assess the training needs of partners to develop strategies for client to deliver training resources that will meet project goals and objectives.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational, event, and task management skills
  • Ability to synthesize information and write concise summaries and reports
  • Outstanding oral communication and presentation development skills
  • Willingness to take initiative, accept ownership of job responsibilities, and make appropriate decisions
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize, and respond effectively to short deadlines
  • Experience in supporting and interfacing with customers
  • Experience evaluating complex projects and organizing project documents
  • Ability to operate efficiently in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams, and database systems
  • DOE Q or the ability to acquire Q clearance
  • Master's degree in international affairs, national security, public policy, communications, or related field
  • Ability to quickly learn the customer's business operations and maintain a current understanding of ongoing and planned changes or impacts to the business operations
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
