Position Description: Safety and Compliance Manager

The Safety and Compliance Manager monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations, including all Worker's Compensation, OSHA regulations, and reporting. Additional duties will include overseeing licensing and re-certification needs for field technicians. Occasional travel may be required within the 23 states we serve.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Instill a culture of Safety First.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Maintains and delivers applicable safety training for compliance with OSHA General Industries Standard.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and calculate OSHA numbers for compliance needs.
  • Moderate Safety Committee meetings and create scripting for safety videos.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.
  • Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.
  • Reviews accidents/incidents and near misses reported by employees.
  • Completes all Worker compensation duties (reporting, follow through, and getting employees back to work).
  • Manage licensing and CEU accrual for field technicians.
  • Work with State pest control associations to identify initial licensing requirements for new employees and events available for annual re-certification.
  • Manage and assess driving data as received from our GPS partner.
  • Manage general liability insurance, including claims and the annual renewal process.
  • Oversees communication of safety and compliance information through safety sites
  • Supervise the Licensing Administrator
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • An Associate's degree in health and safety, occupational/environmental health, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of work-related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • The ability to work closely and cohesively with other teams, especially operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Available for travelling less than 20% of the time.
  • Favorable drug test and acceptable background and driving records are also required.
  • This role is onsite in Fridley, MN.

Preferred Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in health and safety, occupational/environmental health, or a related field is required.
  • Proficient knowledge in Worker's Compensation
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Communicates through telephone conversations, email, text, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Read printed materials and a computer screen.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Sitting for long periods; occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching
  • Stamina needed to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
  • Must be able to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
