The Security Support Specialist manages the Department of Public Safety Lost and Found program, including coordination of delivery of lost property from five campuses. Assists overseeing the college sex offender program, maintaining documentation and status of sex offenders attending the college and monitoring the reporting requirements with the federal and state departments of probation. Assists the Chief of Police for Department of Public Safety and department staff with other administrative and clerical duties.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the Department of Public Safety Lost and Found program.
Coordinates delivery of lost property from five campuses.
Enters the property in the lost items database and attempts to identify the rightful owner.
Stores lost property in a secure location, pending return or disposal.
Packages unclaimed items for delivery to the Central Receiving department for auction or destruction.
Assists overseeing the college sex offender program, maintaining documentation and status of sex offenders attending the college.
Assists monitoring the reporting requirements of sex offenders with the federal and state departments of probation.
Reviews requests for police reports, obtains approval, and provides copies to the requestor.
Oversees department vehicle’s maintenance and repairs.
Assist conducting background checks of all applicants being considered for employment in the department.
Coordinates overtime requests and prepares required forms for approval.
Interacts and provides customer service with students, staff and the public in a positive manner and answers questions regarding department matters.
Provides college personnel with CPR and First Aid training.
Assists the Chief of Police for Department of Public Safety and department staff with other administrative and clerical duties.
Serves as Campus Security Authority.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
At least two (2) years of experience in security and safety operations, preferred.
