The Department of Statistics at the University of South Carolina, Columbia invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in statistics and data science. All research areas in statistics will be considered, and applicants with expertise in modern data science are especially encouraged to apply. Appointment will commence August 16, 2023.
The Department currently consists of twelve tenured/tenure-track faculty and five full-time instructors. Current research areas of the faculty include survival analysis, Bayesian statistics, latent variable methods, semiparametric and nonparametric modeling, highly structured data, deep learning, functional data, stochastic processes, and statistical genetics. The Department has about 40 full-time graduate students and offers PhD, MS, and BS degrees. Applicants must have a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related field by the start date of employment, potential for outstanding research, and demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.
