Working in the Application Development Department, this professor will primarily focus on coursework related to the AAS in Application Development and the BAS in Information Technology: Application Development programs.This position will regularly work with colleagues, staff, and administrators across the campus; and may engage the community through public events or student outreach. The position begins in the fall quarter 2024. We encourage applications from faculty with demonstrated experience and expertise in supporting, sustaining, and serving people from a wide range of ethnic, cultural, racial, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Courses in the Application Development programs at Centralia College are offered in a variety of modalities-including fully in-person, hybrid, hyflex (virtual), and online. Courses are scheduled throughout the day. Duties and Responsibilities The Information Technology Instructor is responsible for teaching introductory through advanced lecture and lab classes in Information Technology, which include but is not limited to: C#, C++, HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, and generalized Object-Oriented Coding programming concepts. Additional teaching topics include data access techniques, application development methodologies, Design Patterns, mobile development, relational databases, Software Engineering concepts, writing secure code and general cybersecurity education and awareness, web application construction, and other application and data development classes at the Associate and Bachelor's level. The instructor will participate in professional and community service activities; provide curriculum and program development, advise students, participate in college activities, attend faculty and committee meetings; and perform other duties as assigned.This program provides training to women and men in application development, including mobile, web and desktop applications as well as database design and integration. The courses present students with a broad development background, which prepares them to compete for entry-level and higher positions in information technology occupations such as application developer, software engineer, web developer, mobile applications developer and database developer/integrator.Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in information technology, application development, computer science, or another related fieldDemonstrated prior experience in application developmentTwo-years of relevant work experience in the field

    Master's DegreeOne-year prior teaching experienceDemonstrated competencies in one or more areas of cyber securityDemonstrated proficiency with presentation softwareExperience using Learning Management system (Canvas)Demonstrated ability to participate in professional and community activities;Demonstrated ability to serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education, and cultural backgrounds;Demonstrated ability to work with and advise students
Conditions of Employment

This is a full-time, tenure track faculty appointment with employment expected to begin Fall Quarter 2024, subject to state legislative funding. The State of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for all state employees.


Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No.4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO.


Vocationally certifiable by the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges.

Compensation


Placement on the established faculty salary schedule is dependent upon education and teaching experience.The salary range for a 177-day contract is $67,204 - $100,775.
