Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Specialty Programs, the Associate Director implements and administers the vision, strategy, and goals of the undergraduate business programs at the Jones Graduate School of Business. The Associate Director is responsible for establishing, building, and maintaining partnerships within the school and across the campus. This individual independently works on the development and implementation of communication and marketing activities, creates programs, services, events and/or products to meet organizational objectives, and drives cross-functional collaboration across the business school and university. This individual also works closely with our Faculty Lead and Faculty Director for undergraduate business programs and participates in program strategy, long-range planning, and partnership development. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative aspects of our undergraduate programs as well. The Associate Director may also support other degree programs within Specialty Programs, including the online MBA program (MBA@Rice) and the Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree.

Workplace Requirements

Hybrid position: This position is offered as a hybrid role (one work from home day), combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. (Insert hybrid schedule). Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.

This role will require presence at frequent evening and weekend events.

Annual Hiring Range: $65,000 to $75,000

*Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree

    • In lieu of the education/experience requirement, additional related education and/or experience, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.

  • 3 years of professional related experience

    • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements, administers, and evaluates programs by: conducting research activities within the program, analyzing data, creating reports, reviewing trends, and making program improvement recommendations
  • Develops and implements strategies related to outreach, events, communications, development, partnerships and fundraising / funding
  • Creates short term and long-term plans to achieve mission and objectives for the program
  • Devises and manages financial and budgetary plans for the program(s), approves and monitors expenditures
  • For academic programs, may be responsible for graduate student recruitment and admissions, student records, curriculum support, coordinating the accreditation process, managing scholarships and fellowships, and monitoring student progress
  • May be responsible for grant preparation and submission or research administration
  • May supervise student workers
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Establish partnership across the business school and university to ensure support for our undergraduate student population
