An Assistant Director of Sales is an extension of the Director of Sales and Marketing and is responsible for managing a high-value group segment while mentoring select members of the sales team. Hilton is seeking experienced sales professionals, who want to grow into leadership roles and lead teams of their own. 


 


What will I be doing?


The primary responsibilities of this position are to support and develop a high-performing Group sales team to execute creative, dynamic and impactful business strategies and action plans across all group market segments that drive revenue streams, including Rooms, Catering and Events, towards achieving the hotel’s annual budget and crossover targets.


 


As an Assistant Director of Sales, you will individually own and manage a key vertical market for a full service 1,234 room hotel with 55,000 sq. ft of flexible meeting space and 32 breakout rooms.


 


Key deliverables for this role are:


 



  • Contribute to the hotel’s annual sales and marketing plans in collaboration with DOSM, and amend  and execute plan to support the objectives of the hotel. 

  • Knowledge of the management of sales personnel, group market segment deployment strategies, including goal setting and performance metrics, and daily departmental operations. 

  • Demonstrate a mastery of the prospecting and negotiation process to win new  business. 

  • Lead segments of daily and weekly group business review and sales strategy meetings.

  • Develop and execute a call strategy for group sales team, activate outside sales calls, industry tradeshows and customer events.  Actively engage with Hilton Worldwide Sales, Convention Bureau, and Intermediaries towards optimizing customer and account management that results in growth of key accounts and new business.

  • Lead enterprise and hotel level sales initiatives i.e., Global Week of Engagement, Sales Accelerators, Team Member Appreciation Week, etc.

  • Develop, execute, and communicate a monthly, quarterly, and annual business plan for a designated group market segment.

  • Produce accurate and timely reports including group forecasts, that meets the needs and deadlines of the hotel, management company, and ownership group. 

  • Maintain up to date pipeline of business opportunities that will meet the short- and long-term business objectives for the designated market.

  • Represent hotel in all interactions dealing with existing and prospective customers relative to sales, including creating business proposals, executing contracts, and conducting successful site inspections through expert story telling. 

  • Clear understanding of the competitive marketplace, the current state of the industry, and economic factors within the hotels geographic market.

  • Consistently conform to Hilton brand standards and corporate identity and utilize all communication tools

  • Support sales team members' activities while they are absent or are remotely based

  • Contribute feedback to performance reviews for all group sales managers and sales support

  • Facilitate and lead in a culture that is aligned with Hilton’s DEI and ESG enterprise goals

 


What are we looking for?


To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:


 



  • Minimum Years of Experience: Four (4) Years of Hotel Sales Experience with (1) Year Assistant Director of  Sales or Director of Group Sales  with consistent track record of achieving annual production goals


·         This role requires strong sales and networking skills.



  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a team to perform beyond expectations

  • Strong analytical skills to understand key business indicators and competitive trends and develop approaches to these challenges

  • Excellent selling capabilities and the ability and desire to coach selling techniques to Team Members

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Experience in a similar role with a proven track record

  • Highly professional presentations and oral and written communication skills


·         Ability to read and write in the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, proposals, general correspondence, and similar written materials.



  • Ability to manage time, resources, and personnel effectively and productively.



  • Additional Requirements: Ability to travel on short notice and adaptable to schedule changes


 


It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:



  • Knowledge of the local LAX hotel market for large group (75 or more on peak) for Association, Government, Corporate, and SMERF including Religious self-contained group with banquet spend. 

  • Affiliation with professional organizations with a tie to the travel industry

  • Full-service hotel experience 

  • Proficiency in Delphi FDC
