Position Description:

The Tax Accountant supports the Manager & Director of Tax in the preparation and review of AEG Fuel's US and international tax compliance. The Analyst will research and document international tax reporting requirements and participates in the reporting processes to ensure compliance. They will support the data collection process for tax planning, compliance, and audit preparation. They will assist with the completion & filing of Federal & State taxes and will interact with senior financial & other company leadership as necessary to complete essential functions.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax work papers supporting the filing of the US and international tax returns.
  • Prepare, review, and keep updated AOC List and the documents required.
  • Post journal entries to be recorded and tax payments to be made, when it's required by the supervisor.
  • Assist in monthly tax account reconciliations.
  • Monitor, research, and analyze tax issues to maintain and communicate knowledge of the past, present, and potential future tax laws, regulations, rulings, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Assist in the coordination of the company filings during the tax audits by ensuring compliance with government information or document requests.
  • Respond to notices of proposed adjustments and assemble and maintain accounting and tax records to support filed returns and financial statement accounting entries for audits.

Recommended Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax preferred
  • 1-2+ years of VAT or Sales Tax experience
  • Previous Airline, Aviation, or Petroleum Experience preferred
  • Well organized with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with confidential material
