Director of Human Resources / Greater Baltimore area

4 days onsite / $130 - $137K

Summary of Position:

LHH is currently seeking a Director of Human Resources for an established social services organization. This role will focus on implementing human resources strategies in the areas of compensation, records management, safety and health, succession planning, investigations, and employee relations and retention. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated HR professional who will possess a strong sense of purpose for both the mission and for getting things done.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees all employee relations issues, including but is not limited to, recommendation and review of disciplinary actions as well as administration/support of the grievance and appeal procedures.
  • Provides Human Resources advice, counsel, and decisions to leadership; works closely with department Heads and other management, guiding them on personnel matters.
  • Supports all aspects of training & development including but not limited to: employee orientation program and supervisory/leadership training as well as development initiatives to ensure a well-trained workforce.
  • Conducts internal investigations related to allegations of harassment, bullying, and discrimination, etc, providing recommendations for appropriate follow-up resulting from investigations.
  • Assists in the organization's strategic and business planning to determine Human Resources needs, strategies, and philosophies. Implements identified strategies for organizational growth and change.
  • Oversees the administration of the unemployment process.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant state and federal policies, communicating changes and updates to leadership and relevant personnel.
  • Supports the performance management process to enhance effectiveness, uniformity and timeliness. This includes initial orientation period, annual evaluations, performance development and improvement plans.
  • Implements and/or coordinates workforce development initiatives such as internships, mentor programs, and retention strategies.
  • Consults with legal counsel as directed by the CHRO on personnel matters.
  • Oversees administration of subsidiary compensation program.
  • Monitors fiscal resources within the subsidiary Human Resources budget.
  • Ensures a consistently high level of customer service from HR personnel through effective training and evaluation of appropriate skills.
  • Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings, and other activities to facilitate professional development.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five year's experience in the Human Resources field
  • 2 years of supervisory experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources strongly preferred; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working in the health, human services or intellectual disabilities fields desired.
  • Woprking knowledge of current Federal and state employment laws.
  • Must possess attention to detail, a sense of discretion, and the ability to form relationships with employees at all levels of the organization are essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and by Agency policy.
