Reports to: Project Manager/Senior Project Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt


GENERAL SUMMARY
The Project Engineer reports to a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager and is responsible for day-to-day project activities, quality control, project deliverables, shop drawing review and oversees all project design phases related to site design.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • Ability to perform all project phases from design to contract document and specification production, shop drawing checks, site visitation, and project closeout with general oversite.

  • Possesses practical management skills and can plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of projects.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in general terms and objectives.

  • Makes civil engineering design decisions independently and elevates complicated design decisions to the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager.

  • Directs and coordinates the workload with other project team members.

  • Coordinates with other internal and/or external team members.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Excellent technical knowledge within the field of civil engineering.

  • Coordinates, writes, and/or edits specifications as applied to civil engineering.

  • Strong leadership skills can meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to clients.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to interact professionally and with integrity.

  • Strong planning, organizing, time management, and multi-tasking skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to work, manage, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to self-manage projects from start to finish, with oversight.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking ability.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

  • Proficient in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio or Form-Z, Photoshop, MS Word, and MS Excel.

  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning codes, and approval processes related to civil engineering.

  • Thorough understanding of building systems and site requirements related to civil engineering (Structural, MEP, Civil & Geo-Tech).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience.

  • Licensure in engineering is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office setting, onsite at client locations, and on construction/building sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires sufficient physical ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform work in an office setting, which includes extensive employee contact, frequent interruptions, the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist, to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, to verbally communicate to exchange information, to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, to verbally communicate to exchange information with or without accommodation, to see in the normal visual range with or without correction, and can hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. This position requires physical mobility on and around construction sites before and after the installation of landscaping, pavement, stairs, elevators, electricity, heating, and air conditioning.
