Job Description:

Overview

Responsible for creating, editing, and managing a range of technical copy and documentation in support of various initiatives of the company.

Responsibilities


  • Primary responsibility for facilitating development of technical documentation, including specifications, briefings, and research reports.

  • Work with various engineers and other staff members to establish technical requirements and to determine subject material to be developed.

  • Collaborate with various engineers to develop, write, and edit material for technical procedures.

  • Assist inventors in developing invention disclosure submissions that summarize the invention, the background of the invention, and the potential commercial merits of the invention.

  • Assist with technical writing otherwise as required for other forms of IP, such as copyrights and trade secrets.

  • Work with analysts and technical staff to edit reports, briefings, and presentations.

  • Develop technical templates and standards to facilitate consistent presentation of materials.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage priorities to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications


  • Proven ability to create clear and concise technical documentation, technical drawings, and follow processes.

  • Ability to gather technical information & details through multiple techniques - conducting efficient interviews, reviewing documents, etc.

  • Proven track record writing proficiently for multiple audiences and in multiple modes (reports, meeting minutes, presentations, emails, technical specifications).

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to draft documentation having a level of technical detail consistent with technical journal publications.

  • Ability to work with little oversight on short deadlines. Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.

  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.

  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.

  • Ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined result.

  • Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.

  • Ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and to be responsible for making decision.

  • Ability to complete multiple assigned tasks under stressful situations.


Education/Experience:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and three (3) to seven (7) years related experience as a Technical Writer in a related field required. Experience with working in a corporate R&D department preferred. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Office environment with some shop environment exposure. Shop environment may not have air conditioning.
