Clinical Dietitian, Part Time



The Massachusetts General Hospital Down Syndrome Program (MGH DSP) is a collaborative, multidisciplinary team serving people with Down syndrome of all ages and their families. We provide evidence-based clinical care, education, and cutting-edge research so that individuals with Down syndrome can reach their full potential.


The Down Syndrome Program is seeking a registered and licensed dietician who would be willing see adult patients in our Thursday adult clinics.


This is a 4 clinic-day a month position, with clinic days the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of each month (MGH Boston) plus an additional day of your choice for administrative time. This adds up to 40 hours a month. All work time is expected to be in person.


The Down Syndrome Program is a subspecialty service of the Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics (MassGeneral Hospital for Children) at Massachusetts General Hospital. This program offers specialized services for children, young adults, and adults with Down syndrome and their families.


The nutritionist will help identify, treat, and provide counseling for any number of medical issues, including but not limited to:


  • Celiac disease

  • Overweight/Obesity

  • Healthy dietary choices

  • Vitamin deficiencies

  • Nutrition education and counseling

The nutritionist will work in the context of a multidisciplinary clinic and will share thoughts on patient care with the physicians and other team members. The nutritionist will be required to write a clinical note in Epic for each clinical visit. Time allowing, the nutritionist will also have opportunities to work on more substantial projects that relate to improving the nutritional health, in general, of people with Down syndrome.



This is a part-time position.




Qualifications

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be comfortable speaking with adults and children, be able to work well with a team.


The candidate must have knowledge of nutritional issues that are specific to Down syndrome and be willing to share an enthusiasm for nutritional education with families and patients.


Successful completion of national examination from the Commission on Dietetic Registration; Massachusetts dietician/nutritionist license.


Candidates must have a college education and have successfully passed a registered dietician examination.
