NWH is recruiting for a full-time Mobility Aide in the acute care/inpatient setting. The primary function of this role is to assist hospitalized patients on one NWH's inpatient medical units with routine mobilization as described below. This position will work Mon-Fri during the day shift and early evening hours, with weekend shift rotation as well.
In this role, the Aide will:
Mobilizing patients to walk the hall
Assisting patients to a chair for meals
Rounds on patients to offer to walk to bathroom/transfer to commode
Utilizing lifts to assist bed bound patients to a chair
Understand/monitor vital signs as needed
Assisting with basic patient needs (filling water pitchers, assisting to the restroom, setting up meal trays).
Candidates should have primary attributes that include:
Strong willingness to collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team, which includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, nurses aides, and other members of the clinical and non-clinical care team
Being flexible and willing to adapt to evolving requests/priorities during the workday
Strong customer service skills
Commitment to understand and fulfill the mission and goals of Inpatient Rehab Services and NWH as a whole
Qualifications
Applicants should be individuals looking to pursue a career in physical/occupational therapy, nursing, or other medical profession. This includes a future plan by the applicant to apply to an academic institution to pursue a degree in one of these professions.
