Job Description:

Job Summary

Vertiv is hiring an Engineering Technician in Lincoln, NE to support various projects and products for the new product development and sustaining engineering teams of its rack power distribution business unit.


Responsibilities:

  • Prototype printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) soldering and rework
  • Assemble and prepare power distribution units for engineering Device Validation Testing (DVT)
  • Assemble and prepare power distribution units for reliability testing
  • Assist engineering in Device Validation Testing (DVT)
  • PCBA troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Assist with first article inspection, testing, and related reports
  • Functional test fixture support, including ordering parts, building, testing, and maintenance
  • Build custom cables and adapters
  • Assist with alternate component selection and testing
  • Set up firmware programmers for production
  • Mentor new engineers about best practices for soldering and lab equipment usage
  • Help keep the engineering lab organized, clean, and stocked

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in technical field
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electronics and wiring
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong soldering skills, including soldering of fine pitch components and SMD passives
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and test instructions
  • Understand engineering concepts
  • Proficient in using lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, benchtop power supplies, and multimeters
  • Proficient in using computers and office software
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Must have good problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Understand and follow electrical safety procedures and precautions
  • Medium Lifting required ~30-45 lbs.
  • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts)
  • Protective Equipment Required (eyewear, safety shoes, etc.)

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with standards related to electronic assemblies such as IPC-A-610
    • Proficient using calibration equipment, such as loads, power supplies, and power analyzers
    • Proficient in using hot-air workstations and preheaters
    • Proficient in soldering advanced technology components such as BGAs and QFNs
    • Experience troubleshooting circuitry operating up to 240/415VAC
